This page is now only relevant when the ALM Client Launcher is installed on the client machine, due to the ended support of Microsoft Internet Explorer on June 15, 2022. For further information on the ALM Client Launcher, visit ALM Help Center and search for ALM Client Launcher.

Alternatively, you may enable the Shared Deployment for ALM Client through Internet Explorer Mode in Microsoft Edge. For more details, visit ALM Help Center and search for Internet Explorer Mode.

Shared Deployment for Virtual Environments

Shared Deployment for Virtual Environments deploys ALM client components on a shared location of a client machine. This is useful for users on virtual environments such as Citrix and VMware accessing the same location.

Installation Instructions:

  1. Log on to the machine as a local user or a domain user with administrator privileges. Ensure that you have the file system permissions listed below.
  2. Click Install Shared Deployment for ALM Client.
  3. Install the add-in each time ALM server is upgraded.

Required Permissions:

You must have permissions to the following folders:

  • Full read and write permissions to the ALM-Client deployment folder.
    This is located at: %ALLUSERSPROFILE%.
  • Full read and write permissions to the Temp (%TEMP% or %TMP%) directory. The installer program writes installation and log files to this directory.
This is generally located at: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp.

Notes:

  • If ArgsEditor.dll fails to register during the add-in download, you must reinstall Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable. For more information, see knowledge base article KM523641.
  • To register components on the client machine run the ALM Client Registration add-in.
